Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist

Summary: This job is responsible for technical level work regarding day-to-day accounts payable processing and payment for San Felipe Casino. The Accounts Payable Specialist provides accounting support and information for managers, staff, and employees in the areas of accounts payable, employee expenses, and record keeping and systems. Duties include processing accounts payable invoices and payments, report generation and accounting for transactions, understanding approval procedures, producing a wide variety of correspondence and documents using personal computer, and a variety of special projects assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain enterprise culture and employee engagement.
  • Build good relationships with all customers both internal and external.
  • Process Accounts Payable invoices for payment to vendors by checking invoices for accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and entering data into MAS-90 system.
  • Analyze/review vendors’ statements for accuracy and check credit balances.
  • Prepare vendor checks ensuring supporting documentation is available on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for maintenance and tracking of all Accounts Payable hard-copy documentation. Includes annual purging of obsolete files and creation of new year filing system.
  • Assist public and staff with financial/accounting information.
  • Perform clerical support functions including word processing and answering phones.
  • Respond to inquiries, verbally and in writing, from public and staff regarding financial/accounting information.
  • Participate in the casino’s safety goals.
  • Display good communication skills including persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers and or coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Effectively communicates with all departments within San Felipe.
  • Comply with enterprise and departmental procedural guidelines, SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Contribute to a team-oriented, continuous improvement, quality process.

Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have must have advanced skills related to Word, Excel, Internet, and typing. Must also have the ability to work in a very fast paced environment, multi task, and change priorities as needed.
